We’re so pleased to welcome Sophie Lomas to the LAVA family! Joining as our newest Manager, she brings a strong background in transaction services and a keen appetite for working closely with founders and entrepreneurial businesses. 

After graduating from the University of Birmingham, Sophie joined Saffery’s audit team, where she’d spent her placement year, to work with a whole range of complex clients before moving to the corporate finance division in 2021. Having developed rich expertise across every facet of due diligence, Sophie was ready for a new challenge, and eager to move closer to the human side of dealmaking. In considering her priorities she knew she was looking for an opportunity that would allow her to leverage her relationship skills and work more closely with clients, guiding and advising them through some of the most important periods of their professional lives. 

Having come across LAVA as part of her wider network, Sophie quickly recognised the opportunity to do things differently and make a splash in M&A, and set out to meet us. The LAVA hiring model usually focuses on either expanding our early career analyst pool, or supplementing our deal team with experienced Associate Directors, but Sophie’s unique set of skills, and determination to shape her own path, really resonated with the LAVA ethos. Always ready to challenge our assumptions, the whole team met Sophie and were in agreement on the immense value she could add to our team and culture:
